Lamborghini's first hybrid car(ASTERION)
After introduction of hybrid car in autoworld competition by Audi,BMW,Mclaren lamborghini too has bumpedin to the competition by unveiling a new concept Asterion LPI910-4(a petrol-electric drivetrain hybrid).
The Asterion LPI 910-4 puts its powertrain on displaylike all other supercars.Asterion the name of a minotaur -- a mythical hybrid that is part man and part bull. keeping in consideration of other hybrid models like LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche's 918 Spyder, the Asterion LPI910-4 is more comfortable and luxury car having good daily and ultimate track performance as well.
Avoiding all the troubleshoots the company has done an exclusive invention of making the car as efficient of travelling upto 50km alone.The lithium-ion battery stored in the tunnel where the transmission would normally go has enough to do this.The car was introduced by the Lamborghini president Stephan Winkelmann at a media event prior to the Paris show.
The Asterion does not perform traditionally as how the rest of model do;it still holds 5.2-liter V-10 midships linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.only the addition of three electric motors is done; one to act as a starter-generator on the engine and two on the front axle, providing the all-wheel-drive serivce.
Lamborghini states that the combined system can produce 910 hp(at max) and 413 pound-feet of torque and adds a trio of electric motors , enough to propel it to 62 mph in 3s.Then it continues onward to its top speed of 198.8 mph (320 kph).
You can locate buttons on the Asterion's steering wheel which allows the selection of one of three engine driving modes
1.Zero is the full-electric mode that use the energy stored in the lithium-ion battery to drive only the front wheels.
2.The I button stands for "Ibrido," is the standard hybrid operation where the V-10 and electric motors work together, delivering up to the full 910 ponies and as low as 98 g/km CO2 emissions.
3.Thirdly T stands for "Termico" (thermal) drives the vehicle using only the gasoline engine's output at the rear wheels.
At the center of the dashboard, a portable tablet handles infotainment functions such as GPS, audio controls, and climate controls.The seats are slightly higher as compare to Huracan.As Stated by president of lamborghini the LPI 910-4 is just a technology demonstrator.Lets hope that may asterion perform well in market.
